Mofo


There is more than one artist with this name: 1. Mofo was a Latvian rock band from Rīga, Latvia, formed in 2002. The band's self-titled debut album Mofo, released in 2006, brought them recognition in national level. Album included successful radio singles Daudz par daudz, Es Tevi nopirkšu, Nekas nav beidzies and cover of Mans lielais rakstāmgalds, which was originally written by other Latvian indie rock band, Baložu Pilni Pagalmi. Second record Raķete, released in spring 2008, was a step forward in their musical development. The guitarist Mārtiņš Elerts was replaced with Edgars Rubenis from Mona De Bo. His post-rock guitar riffs gave the band slightly different sound from the britpop influenced first album. Songs Lielveikals, Mīnu lauks and title track Raķete have made Mofo one of the most successful Latvian acts in recent years. In summer 2009 they announced an indefinite hiatus.
